Head Lice Treatment for kids

The head lice has always been the most frustrating and common problem for the parents. But the controversy has not always been how their child has got infested by the head lice, but how to get rid of the head lice has been yet another big issue. 

On the one side, there is a debate that the people who believe some how the head lice have developed the resistance to the regular head lice treatment, as the treatment does not longer work at all. There are other experts who believe that the lice resistance is not the big problem because the nits are not fully removed after the treatment or the child has not properly diagnosed in the first place as well. 

Infestation - Once the child gets the head lice, either its mature or adult, it's going to lay up to 10 eggs in each day. And their eggs hatch in about a week around 7 to 12 days. The nymph or the baby lice were about the size of pinhead at the time they hatch. They quickly mature in about 9 to 12 days duration and start laying themselves. They start their life cycle all again during 3 to 4 week life span. 

Symptoms – The main louse symptom is the itchy scalp and the rash over the skin under the ear or neck due to the lice bite. These bites can cause infection as well as the result of the swollen lymph glands in the neck. Lice do not cause any other kind of disease and any other symptoms.

Head lice diagnosis – Other than the symptoms the child having fray or the reddish brown live head lice around their scalp is the diagnosis of its infestation. The lice are small in size around the size of the sesame seed, while they do not hop or fly as well. They only crawl very fast on the scalp and its hard to spot them. The identification of the nits attached to your child’s hair is another sign of the head lice. Nits are oval in shape, yellow in color and small in size, they are firmly attached to the hair.

Headlice treatment – The most conventional treatment for the head lice is by using a head lice shampoo, while removing the nits and head lice with the comb. The treatment usually compromises of 7 to 10 days after the first head lice treatment, according to the manufacturer's prescribed instructions. 

The other family members should also be checked for the head lice, assure that they do not have the head lice, although it is recommended that the other family members who are living at the 1 cm with the live lice and nits, should also be treated. 

 

If you are uncomfortable with using the anti-lice shampoo, you can manually remove the head lice as well by using the comb. There are many nits or lice in your child’s head, which are really hard to remove manually, that’s why it is advisable to use the lice removal comb by dividing the hair into smaller section while combing so that you know which part is done. The head lice removal by using comb is yet used for the head lice prevention method as well, if you are hesitant about using the prevention sprays and products.
